Theme: Architecting the Future: AI, Modularity & Climate-Responsive Design
Overview:
As the architectural profession navigates an era defined by technological innovation and climate urgency, the integration of artificial intelligence and modular systems is transforming how we design, plan, and build.
This Continuing Professional Development (CPD) session hosted by the East Africa Institute of Architects (EAIA) will explore how AI-driven tools and digital workflows can advance modular, climate-responsive design within the African context; empowering architects to enhance efficiency, sustainability, and resilience across scales.
Key Discussion Highlights:
- Artificial Intelligence in Practice: Leveraging generative and predictive tools to inform sustainable, data-driven design decisions.
- Architecture planning and legal requirements: Creating robust one-stop centers; reducing approval turn-around times; eliminating graft; tracking at-risk structures/works (in a bid to reduce collapsing buildings)
- Governance and policy: Hoping that the last point can convince governments to ensure that architects are integral to decisions for the future of towns and cities; problem solving current built environment challenges.
- The Future Architect: Building digital literacy, ethical awareness, and adaptive design skills for the next generation of East African architects.
Target Audience:
Practicing architects, educators, students, and design professionals interested in the intersection of AI, modular systems, and sustainable design in the built environment.
Accreditation:
This session qualifies for 1 CPD Point under the EAIA Professional Development Framework.
Date: November 21st @ 4–5pm EAT
